Advent begins on the Sunday that is nearest to the 30th November. It is a time of waiting for the arrival of Jesus.

The Advent Wreath reminds Christians of God, His Eternity and His endless mercy.

The four Advent candles represent the themes of Hope, Peace, Love and Joy. The fifth white central candle represents the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.

We light them in the order of purple, purple, pink, purple, white.

2013

We have been preparing for Christmas during Advent as  we await the coming of Jesus.
We made our Advent Promises, pasted them onto our individual trees and have displayed them as an Advent Calendar.
Each day we follow an Advent Promise.   Our class has made clay angels and baubles to decorate our homes.

Our class visited a 5 / 6 room today to buy Christmas goodies from their market stall. They are thinking of others as we draw nearer to Christmas and held the stall to raise money for Caritas. It was great fun. We could even have our photo taken with Santa and his elves!
