Scientists who work at NASA (The National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
need to know about matter for the design and construction of their spacecraft.
They are responsible for the civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.
Here is NASA’s more detailed explanation of the states and properties of matter.
As a young scientist, what areas are you most interested in researching?
We experimented in small groups to find whether some solids were soluble or not. We made sherbet and slime. One group used vinegar and baking soda to blow up a balloon. We also tried to mix oil with water with and without adding washing detergent.
